Unfortunately, we can't order weather on demand. This year's Road Classics Ještěd will not take place on the scheduled date of September 14.
The forecast of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute is relentless and in the next few days persistent rain combined with very strong winds will settle in the Czech Republic, including Liberec Region. Road cycling would be very dangerous in view of the anticipated conditions.
Hopefully, we have had enough bad luck this year. We want you to enjoy Ještěd soon. So October 19 is the new date.
"We have been in touch with the meteorologists since Monday and have been considering all possible scenarios. The health and safety of the competitors - and the organisers - is our first priority. Considering a high probability of falling trees and local flooding, it would not be reasonable and responsible to organize any event," says Jan Hejda, head of the Road Classics.
"There was no plan to cancel the race, on the contrary, we want to end the season in a dignified way. We believe that the we will enjoy a beautiful race in the autumn scenery of the Jizera Mountains," he adds.
All registered cyclists will have their entry fee automatically transferred to the new date. If the new date does not suit them, they can re-register their entry number to another person free of charge. The next option is to transfer the entry to one of the races in 2025.
Race dates and locations will be launched during the autumn.
